We are excited to announce OSP Post Award hiring updates and changes to the Award Management team structure! 

New Assistant Director of Award Management

Christa Albanez will oversee the Award Management team as the Assistant Director. Many of you who have worked with Christa will recognize that she is well versed in research administration. 

Through experience at Caltech as a departmental grant manager and within the central Post Award office, Christa gained a breadth of knowledge of both central and departmental perspectives. She has also worked as a research finance manager at Beckman Research Institute, City of Hope, where she managed post-award financials for basic and translational research. 

Restructuring the Award Management Team

The Award Management team will be composed of three groups to be led by three managers from within the team: Christine Estes, Alpana Gautam, and Jennifer Kaminski. 

Christine's group will support portfolios for the School of Engineering and Applied Science, the School of Nursing, the Center for Applied Biomechanics, the Office of the Executive Vice President and Provost, UVA at Wise, and the Frank Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy. Alpana's group will support the School of Education and Human Development and the College and Graduate School of Arts & Sciences. Finally, Jennifer's group will support the School of Medicine. 

All three bring a wealth of experience to the table. Christine worked at UVA for many years before serving at Duke University and eventually returning to OSP Post Award as a lead. Alpana has been with OSP for close to two decades, developing a love for research administration. Jennifer, who recently joined UVA from Virginia Tech, has been in research administration for close to two decades. 

We will be making minor changes to the existing portfolios and make the updated portfolios available to the field once finalized.
