The next leader of OSP has been named! Recently in an email to the OSP team, Lori McMahon, Vice President for Research announced the person selected to come on board when Stewart Craig, Executive Director of Sponsored Programs, steps down this summer.
Stewart noted his intentions late last year at the Research Administrators Forum. He will continue to support UVA and the research enterprise in another capacity.
The search and selection processes were quick, beginning with the job posting in December and ending with March in-person interviews and recent selection.
Who Was Chosen?
Laura Kozma will be joining UVA as Associate Vice President for Research Operations & Executive Director of Sponsored Programs, effective June 2, 2025.
Laura has an established career in research administration and currently serves as Vice President for Research Administration at the University of Miami. Starting as a Grant Administrator, Laura worked her way up the ladder into leadership at Yale University and University of Connecticut prior to her role at U of M.
AVP of Research Operations & ED of Sponsored Programs is responsible for OSP pre-award, post-award grants management, contracts management, research business operations, onboarding, and training. In addition, she will serve as the Institutional Official in all pre- and post-award grants and contracts management areas.
